FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne firefighters were called to a house fire on Theime Drive Sunday evening.
Crews were dispatched to an area near West Wayne Street and Thieme Drive around 6:15 p.m. The location of the home is in the 900 block of Thieme Drive in the West Central Neighborhood.
Several people called 911 to report flames from the house.
Firefighters found smoke and flames throughout several parts of the home when they arrived. One crew attacked the fire from the outside of the home and also sprayed water on a neighboring home to prevent the fire from spreading. A second crew went inside the home and found a dog. Fire officials said the dog had perished before they could remove it.
No one was home when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.
The fire sustained heavy smoke and fire damage and moderate water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
