Coroner: Passenger’s death in rollover crash ruled an accident

Emergency personnel responded to a rollover crash on private property in eastern Allen County on Thur., May 26, 2016.

WOODBURN, Ind. (WANE) –The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed in a rollover crash on private property early Thursday morning. According to Chief Investigator Michael Burris, Casey Sanders, 20, was the passenger who died after a Jeep crashed in a filed in rural Allen County. 

Just before 2 a.m., emergency crews responded to 24209 Old U.S. 24 East after a report of the crash. Medics pronounced Sanders dead at the scene.

The coroner’s office said Sanders died of blunt force trauma from the crash. Burris said he was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, a black 2000 Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep’s driver was not injured, police said.

The corner ruled Sander’s death an accident.

Emergency vehicles could be seen near the Maumee River and investigators were walking an area near a field about a quarter-mile from the road and several hundred yards from a nearby farm house.

The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. Sander’s death is the 14th traffic fatality in Allen County is 2016.
