Northrop wins state-record 24th regional title


MARION, Ind. (WANE) – Northrop continued to prove itself as the dominant powerhouse in area girls track with the Bruins improving on their own state record by winning the program’s 24th regional title Tuesday evening on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.

Northrop tallied 98 points at the meet in Marion, outdistancing second-place Homestead (77 points) and third-place Carroll (47.5 points).

Breanna Phillips cruised to win the 400 meters for the Bruins while Kyara Muhammed won the 300 meter hurdles. Alicia Tiney-Williams won the shot put for the Bruins.

The Bruins also won the 4×400 relay.

Homestead was paced by Indiana University signee Grace Walther, who ran 4:53.09 to win the 1,600 meters.
