Bob Chase to serve as Grand Marshal of TRF parade

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Legendary local broadcaster Bob Chase will serve as the Grand Marshal of the Three Rivers Festival parade.

Chase was announced as the July 9 parade’s Grand Marshal on Tuesday by Three Rivers Festival executive director Jack Hammer.

“Bob Chase is a Fort Wayne legend,” said Hammer. “We could not think of a better fit for Grand Marshal in a parade themed ‘Indiana’s Bicentennial: Celebrate History. Ignite the Future’.”

Chase began his broadcasting career in Fort Wayne radio in 1953 on WOWO-AM. The 90-year-old Chase has served as the voice of the Fort Wayne Komets for more than 60 years. In 2012, he received the prestigious Lester Patrick Award. He retired from WOWO in 2009.

The festival parade will be held Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m.
