FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The driver of a motorcycle was critically hurt after crashing on Main Street Thursday night.
According to police, the driver was heading east on Main Street around 9:15 p.m. with a group of motorcycles when he laid the bike down near Mechanic Street. The bike came to a stop a block near Center Street.
The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
FWPD Spokesman Officer Jeremy Webb said the driver was not wearing a helmet. Police have not released the name of the driver.
Webb said witnesses told investigators the driver appeared to lose control of the bike. Police are trying to determine if speed or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Webb said no other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
Main Street was closed between Mechanic Street and Cherry Street while police collected evidence and reconstructed the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
