FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – For the first time since 2013 the Bishop Luers girls tennis team is the SAC champion.
The Lady Knights went 7-0 in conference play during the regular season to win the SAC title. A 5-0 win over South Side last week capped off an unbeaten conference record for Bishop Luers. Despite a rather veteran squad, the Lady Knights are led by the lone freshman on the roster, Caroline Rahrig, at No.1 singles. After splitting matches at the Culver Invitational last weekend, Bishop Luers finished the regular season 15-4 overall.
Now the Lady Knights head into the postseason where they will face Homestead in the first round of sectionals on Wednesday at 5:30 at Homestead. Bishop Luers is seeking its first girls tennis sectional title since 2008.
Extended interviews with head coach Jerry Rahrig, senior Kayla Knapke and senior are Sarah Braun available.
