Moped operator dies from crash injuries

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  A Fort Wayne man who suffered serious injuries after the moped he was riding collided with a car on May 11 has died.

Orville E. Fitzsimmons, 43, passed away at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday according to Michael Burris, Chief Investigator with the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The crash took place on Oxford Street near Lindbergh Boulevard when a car travelling west turned in front of Fitzsimmon’s  moped at about 9:30 p.m. according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.  He was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.

According to Burris, police and the coroner’s office are still investigating the incident.
