Dear students, faculty and staff,

Many across campus and throughout the community have offered their support and prayers for Steve McElvene and his family. The Division of Athletics is especially grateful for the outpouring of support for Steve’s family and our players, coaches and staff.

The University has scheduled a memorial prayer service at 5 p.m. Monday, May 16, in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. The UD community is invited to join in prayer for Steve and his family.

Funeral service information will be shared with the campus community when it is available from the family.

Athletics, campus ministry and student development are actively supporting his family, friends, teammates and coaches through this difficult time; many people have asked how they can assist. Memorial contributions may be made to GOFUNDME to assist his family.

On behalf of the entire campus community, we thank all of those who have offered support and prayers during this difficult time. Our prayers and deepest sympathies remain with his family, friends and all who have enjoyed being part of Steve’s life.

Please know support services are always available in person or by telephone through the counseling center, campus ministry and residence life staffs.

I wish you all of God’s blessings.

Daniel J. Curran, Ph.D.
