Diabetes walk achieves fundraising goal

More than 400 people walked to raise money and awareness for type 1 diabetes.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Hundreds of people showed their commitment to curing, preventing and treating type 1 diabetes Saturday morning. The annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund One Walk was held at Headwaters Park.

The walk was two miles. More than 400 people came out for the cause. A JDRF Indiana representative said they reached their fundraising goal of $85,000.

Saturday’s walkers and volunteers share JDRF’s vision to create a world without type 1 diabetes.

Local businesses, families, schools and other organizations showed up to give support. WANE-TV was one of the sponsors for the event. Anchor Heather Herron was the emcee.
