Carwash company helps Big Brothers Big Sisters

A donation box is set up at a Mike's Carwash, which on Saturday May 7, 2016 is donating proceeds to help the Big Brother Big Sisters program.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Mike’s Express Carwash teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters for a fundraiser Saturday.

All 17 of Mike’s Carwash locations donated half the proceeds of Ultimate and Works Washes, which will help offset the cost for youth mentoring programs.

“We’re very appreciative of our customers who help us support the mission of providing children facing adversity with strong relationships and positive change,” said Mike’s Carwash president Mike Dahm. “We know one-to-one mentoring works, although the demand has never been greater. In addition to raising money for an outstanding organization, we also want to raise awareness that mentors are greatly needed.”

This is the seventh year for the fundraiser. Last year it raised $73,000.

The fundraiser runs until 9 p.m. Saturday.
