Jobs tops the political discussion on Facebook in Indiana

(WANE)  People aren’t shy about voicing their political opinions on Facebook and over the past month the social media giant has tracked the discussions Hoosiers have been having regarding the race for President with the Indiana primary set to take place Tuesday.

Among Republicans, Donald Trump dominated the conversation while things were much closer for Democrats Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

So what topics resonated the most among Indiana Facebook users?  The following issues made up the top five:

  1. Jobs
  2. Christianity
  3. Transgender issues
  4. Gender Equality
  5. Guns

The following graphic takes a look at data related specifically to the candidates with interactions (both positive and negative) being defined as likes, posts, comments and shares.  For example, over  the past month 367,000 people on Facebook in Indiana posted about, commented on or shared content related to Hillary Clinton nearly 2.5 million times.
