Chris Benedict named boys basketball coach at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WANE) – Chris Benedict’s 24th season as a head basketball coach in the state of Indiana will be in the heart of Wells county as Benedict was tabbed to lead Bluffton’s program on Monday.

Benedict heads to Bluffton from Columbia City, where he just wrapped up his second stint as the head coach of the Eagles. Eighteen of his 23 seasons as a head coach came in Columbia City where he coached from 1996-2007 & 2009-2016.

He has a career record of 372-182 overall, including a 20-7 mark last season. He led Columbia City to six sectional championships, three regional titles, and a semistate championship in 2004.

Benedict takes over for Kevin Leising, who retired from coach at Bluffton after the Tigers were knocked out of sectional play in March.

Benedict was a finalist for the Columbia City athletic director job that went to Khelli Leitch in March.
