Police make arrest after homeowner holds suspect at gunpoint

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) A Spencerville, Ohio man faces a charge criminal trespass after being arrested early Sunday morning on private property.

A homeowner called Mercer County dispatch at 3:51 am and said he was holding two men at gunpoint that he had found on his property according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. One of the men managed to escape before police arrived. When deputies searched the car of the suspects that was parked in the homeowner’s driveway they found a black box containing baggies of suspected methamphetamine, pills suspected to be morphine, a bag of marijuana and a pocket scale commonly used to weigh drugs.

Police arrested James Baker, 34, and also took possession of his car. They are still looking for the second man who is described as being 5′ 6″ tall, weighing about 150 pounds and last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Police believe Baker and the other man had planned to break into the homeowner’s house.
