Northrop rallies to sweep rival Snider

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Northrop improved to 5-1 on the season with a Saturday sweep of their rival Snider, taking game one 4-1 and rallying from a six-run deficit to take game two 10-9.

Northrop led all of game one thanks to strong pitching from Garrett Shoenle. Snider came back in game two taking a 8-2 lead to the sixth inning. The Bruins put four runs on the board in the sixth inning to cut Snider’s lead to two. Jordan Wixom started the scoring in the 7th inning with an RBI to plate David Keating. Jordan Dickinson brought home the go-ahead run with an RBI double. Shoenle added an insurance run to give Northrop a 10-8 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh.

It looked like Snider would come back whe Isaiah Knight crushed a solo shot over the left field wall. But that would be all the offense Snider could muster as Shoenle closed the game striking out Charles Martin.

Northrop returns to action playing Huntington North on Tuesday. Snider travels to DeKalb on Wednesday.
