LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A multi-county vehicle pursuit of a pickup truck ended near Wolcottville Thursday night after a police officer deployed stop sticks.
According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement officers in Noble County began pursuing a pickup truck which moved north into LaGrange County. At that time, LaGrange deputies began pursuing the truck and deployed stop sticks on State Road 9 near County Road 500 South – just north of Wolcottville.
The truck hit the sticks, slowed down and then eventually went off the road before coming to a stop.
The driver, Janie M. Sellers, 30, Bartonville, IL, was arrested and taken to jail. A sheriff’s department report said drug paraphernalia was found inside the truck and Sellers was operating with a suspended license.
She is initially charged in LaGrange County with criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, and possession of a hypodermic needle. Investigators said additional LaGrange County charges could be filed. It’s unclear what, if any, charges Sellers might face in Noble County.
The incident is under investigation.
The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, Noble County Sheriff’s Department, Wolcottville Police Department, Rome City Police Department, LaGrange Police Department, Shipshewana Police Department and Indiana State Police assisted during the incident.
