Komets comeback bid falls short in overtime loss to Evansville

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Komets looked dead in the water with 2:00 remaining in Sunday’s game against Evansville. Trailing 4-1 Brock Montgomery, Kyle Thomas, and Jamie Schaasfma all scored in the final two minutes to send the game to overtime.

The win was not meant to be. Mattew Zay netted the overtime goal to give the IceMen a 5-4 win.

David Friedmann scored the other goal for the Komets.

The K’s take one point away in the overtime loss. The magic number for them to clinch the two seed in the Midwest in now two points. The Komets lead Colorado by five points.

The Komets return to action on Wednesday hosting the Quad City Mallards.
