Early voting for primary election set to begin

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Early voting for the 2016 primary election will open to registered voters Tuesday.

Residents can cast their votes for candidates in the lobby of the Rousseau Centre, 1 E. Main St., beginning Tuesday. The Election Board office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through April 25. It will also be open Saturday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parking for early voting will be available at marked parking lots on South Clinton Street north of Freimann Square, and in the old Citilink terminal on East Superior Street. Renovations at the Rousseau Centre parking garage have limited parking space.

For residents who cannot make it to the Rousseau Centre, early voting will be available at four satellite locations beginning Tuesday, April 26. The Aboite, Dupont, Georgetown and Hessen Cassel branches of the Allen County Public Library will be open for early voting:

  • Tuesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 27 and Friday, April 29 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On April 26, the Rousseau Centre lobby will open for voting at 8 a.m. and remain open for the same extended hours as the satellites. The final day to vote early at the Rousseau Centre is Monday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Election Board office is also processing applications for absentee mailed ballots. The deadline to receive applications for mailed absentee ballots is 11:59 p.m. Monday, April 25.
