Driver, 74, arrested for flashing gun in road rage

Police found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the car

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A 74-year-old Fort Wayne man was arrested early Tuesday after police said he flashed a handgun at another driver during an apparent road rage situation.

Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies were called just before 9 a.m. Tuesday to the 341 milemarker of Interstate 69, a mile north of the Ashley interchange, after a motorist reported a man in a passing vehicle pointed a gun at them as he drove past.

Sgt. Todd A Patterson said deputies pulled the vehicle over at the 350 milemarker of the interstate. During a search of the car, Patterson said deputies found a loaded .45 caliber handgun in the drivers compartment of the vehicle.

The driver, 74-year-old Harold Burgess of Fort Wayne, was arrested and booked into the Steuben County Jail on initial charges of felony Pointing a Firearm and Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon.
