Allen County library branches to hold ALL-IN Progressive Block Party

FORT WAYNE (March 24, 2016) — Allen County Public Library will host an ALL-IN Progressive Block Party at all 14 locations on April 1-3. The event is designed to encourage Allen County residents to engage with the community and make the state of Indiana even better. Times and dates for each branch are:

• Friday, April 1
Monroeville and Woodburn 3-5 p.m.
Grabill and Dupont 4-6 p.m.

• Saturday, April 2
New Haven 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Shawnee 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Hessen Cassel 12-2 p.m.
Waynedale and Pontiac 1-3 p.m.
Tecumseh and Georgetown 2-4 p.m.
Little Turtle and Aboite 3-5 p.m.

• Sunday, April 3
Main 1-4 p.m.

Indiana Humanities selected Allen County as one of 17 Indiana communities to host an ALL-IN Block Party. The Block Parties are designed to bring people together to participate in a series of challenges that encourage Hoosiers to try new experiences, learn more about Indiana and imagine ways to make Indiana even better. The in-person events are a way to bring the challenges, trivia and facts featured on the ALL-IN website ( to life.

The Allen County ALL-IN Progressive Block Party will feature 59 challenge activities crafted by Allen County Public Library and vital community partners. Block Party attendees will be encouraged to participate in challenges such as share a photo of an Allen County hidden gem, perform a random act of kindness, sing the lyrics of a Hoosier song, tell us about your dream neighborhood, try an ethnic dance, and many more.

Why: Engage in activities that encourage you to think, talk, read, and do while celebrating Indiana’s 200th birthday. Win prizes after completing challenges.

  • Third prize (quantity 10) – Family Pack – either gift certificate to a local restaurant and tickets to a local attraction OR tickets to a local activity

“The ALL-IN Progressive Block Party is a celebration that allows everyone to engage in a little friendly competition,” said Curt Witcher, chair of the Allen County Bicentennial Task Force. “It’s perfect for families, students on spring break, longtime citizens and newcomers, and we’re excited to help Allen County focus on the importance of civic engagement.”
