IPFW softball splits doubleheader with South Dakota

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  – IPFW fell to South Dakota 10-1 in their first game of the season at the IPFW softball field.

The Mastodons scored their lone run of the game one of the doubleheader in the first inning. North Side graduate Sierra Miranda plated Lauren Watson who scored from second base. Miranda leads IPFW with a .385 batting average this season.

Sarah Lazarowich struck out seven batters through six innings of work. She did pick up the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits.

The Lady ‘Dons rebounded to win game two of the doubleheader 3-2. Caitlin DeLong smacked a 3-run homerun in the 4th inning.

IPFW and South Dakota wrap up the three game series Saturday morning at 11am.
