Police investigate a crash along S.R. 37 and Notestine Road involving a 15-passenger van and a semi on Feb. 23, 2016.

Darvin Thornburg, 55, was the driver of a 15-passenger van that struck a semi around 7 a.m. Feb. 23 at the intersection of S.R. 37 and Notestine Road, outside Harlan. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Thornburg, who was taken away from the crash in critical condition, died Saturday at a local hospital of blunt force trauma.

His death was ruled an accident and the county’s 7th traffic death this year.

Police on the scene told NewsChannel 15 that the van was westbound on Notestine when Thornburg ignored a stop sign and struck the southbound semi on S.R. 37.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

State Road 37 was closed from Milan Center Road to Cuba Road. Wires were also brought down in the crash, which caused a power outage in the area.
