FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) One person was hurt during a shooting early Monday morning.
Police were called to Las Lomas Mexican Grill at 2202 Fairfield Ave. shortly after 3:30 a.m. and arrived to find a green Mitsubishi parked in the lot running with its doors opened. Inside the restaurant, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh, according to a report.
The victim told police he was leaving the restaurant and getting into the Mitsubishi when someone started shooting, the report said. He said he had no idea who shot him.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A witness told police that he saw someone drive by the restaurant and open fire.
Police found several 9mm shell casings at near the corner of Fairfield Avenue and Dewald Street, the report said. A projectile was also found near the vehicle in the lot, the report said. A bullet hole was found in the frame of the vehicle, the report said.
An hour after the shooting, police arrested Eduardo Lopez, 22, after he returned to the scene and fled from police. A K-9 tracked him to a nearby yard, where he was found buried in a hole, according to the report.
Lopez was taken into custody and is being held on a resisting arrest charge. He’s a suspect in the shooting.
