KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) Kendallville Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe will step away from office to undergo treatment for cancer.

The three-term mayor announced her plans Monday. She has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, or bone marrow cancer, The Kendallville News-Sun reported.

The paper reported the treatment may curtail Handshoe’s attendance at public meetings and functions in the city.
