K-9 deputy sniffs out drugs in traffic stop

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A man faces multiple drug related charges after a deputy discovered marijuana during a traffic stop.

According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy stopped a truck in a gas station parking lot at the intersection of SR 9 and 750 N, just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

The deputy reported the driver, Zachery Turner, 21, of Howe, displayed several signs of criminal activity.

LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Hunter was brought out to help in the investigation. K-9 Hunter sniffed around the outside of the truck and alerted officers to the odor of narcotics.

The deputy searched the truck and found about eight grams of marijuana inside, along with various drug related items.

Turner was arrested and taken to the LaGrange County Jail on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia. He also faces a charge of maintaining a common nuisance, a felony.
