PAULDING, Ohio (WANE) – It’s been nearly a month since a handyman found Hannah Fischer, 21, dead inside an apartment in Paulding, Ohio. Police believe her boyfriend, Frank Tracy Jr., 47, is responsible for the crime.
After weeks passed by with no sign of him, the U.S. Marshals office in Toledo reached out to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office to offer assistance.
“Once I called them, they were like yes, you know, we could definitely use your help tracking this guy down,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Chris Hodge said.
Hodge said he’s following up on the tips that are coming in.
“It’s probably about a good half a dozen or so, although nothing has been solid,” Hodge said.
Still, the office is putting its vast amount of resources to work.
“We are actively working every angle that we possibly can to try and find him,” Hodge said.
Working for 21 counties in northwest Ohio, this office certainly keeps busy.
“Last year, we arrested 600 violent felons,” Hodge said.
Looking to add to that list, Hodge calls finding this fugitive his number one priority.
“Pretty much, I’m going to be focusing the majority of my resources looking for Frank Tracy,” Hodge said.
That includes utilizing the hundreds of offices and thousands of deputies across the country.
“As soon as I get a tip, it only takes one phone call to the next marshal’s office down the road, and we’ve got somebody in custody,” Hodge said.
The office said Tracy turning himself in is the best option.
“He can always call and surrender and turn himself in. That’s what we all want. Everybody in law enforcement wants things to be safe and end safely now. If he does, he can contact the U.S. Marshal’s office in Toledo and contact myself personally,” Hodge said.
If that doesn’t happen, Hodge has a message for him.
“The U.S. Marshals, we’ve been hunting down fugitives since 1789, and it’s not going to stop with Mr. Tracy. So, when it comes down to it, I’m going to find him,” Hodge said.
The office may be based in Toledo, but it will go anywhere to find this fugitive.
“I’ve captured people in different countries. I’ve captured people that were five blocks away from where things happened. We’re the U.S. Marshals. Wherever those leads go, we’re coming,” Hodge said.
With agencies set up across the country, all it takes is one solid tip to find Tracy. Anyone with that information can call: 1-866-492-6833.
“If the information leads to the arrest of Frank Tracy, I will pay that tipster $1,000,” Hodge said.
Paulding Police Chief Randy Crawford said his department is very grateful to the U.S. Marshals for getting involved. Together, he hopes the multiple agencies now working this case will find Tracy as soon as possible.
