Sweetwater planning to build permanent outdoor pavilion

The pavilion is planned to hold 2,000 people

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Sweetwater Sound is working to build an outdoor pavilion to host musical events.

The company has filed a request with the city’s Fort Wayne Board of Zoning Appeals to construct a 200-foot-by-40-foot pavilion on just outside its building at 5501 U.S. 30 West. Our partners in news at The News-Sentinel reported that the BZA will consider the request next month.

Sweetwater Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Hopkins told The News-Sentinel the pavilion could hold about 2,000 people.

Sweetwater is planning its annual Gearfest two-day music festival, set for June 17-18. If approved, the pavilion would offer needed space for the ever-growing event, which began in 2002.
