Boyce’s late goal leads Carroll to Memorial Cup

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Carroll’s Cam Boyce broke a scoreless tie with 53.1 seconds remaining in the third period as the Chargers edged Leo 1-0 to win the Memorial Cup as the city tournament champions.

Boyce – the son of former Komet Ian Boyce – and the Chargers have now won back-to-back city tournament titles. They bested Leo in last year’s championship game 6-1.

Carroll netminder Camden Whitney racked up 16 saves to earn the shutout.

Leo’s Matt Janiszewski made 23 saves in goal for the Lions.
