ALLEN CO., Ind. (WANE) – One person is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash just northeast of Fort Wayne, according to Allen County dispatchers.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of State Road 37 and Notestine Road outside Harlan.
Police on the scene told NewsChannel 15 that a semi-truck and a 15-passenger van were involved in the crash. The van was going westbound on Notestine when the driver ignored a stop sign and struck the semi going south on SR 37, an Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The driver of the semi was not injured, however the driver of the van was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
State Road 37 was closed from Milan Center Road to Cuba Road. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
Wires were also brought down in the crash, which caused a power outage in the area.
