Komets force overtime but fall at Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – Despite out-shooting the Icemen 43-32 the Komets fell at Evansville in overtime 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Down 2-0 in the second period Mike Embach would get the Komets on the scoreboard at 11:08 with a power play goal – his 22nd goal of the season – cutting Evansville’s lead to 2-1.

Trevor Cheek’s ninth goal of the year just over four minutes later would knot the game and eventually force overtime.

Troy Rutkowski’s goal at 4:00 in overtime would wind up being the game winner.

Pat Nagle, the reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Week, stopped 29 of 32 shots for the Komets.

The Komets now head to Cincinnati to face the Cyclones on Friday.
