Calder flourishing in new role for IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – From sub to stud – that’s the journey of Michael Calder this season, a player who’s as big a reason as any that the Mastodons have weathered the loss of Mo Evans and stayed in the Summit League title hunt.

The Dons are currently 8-3 in conference, a half-game behind South Dakota State for the lead.

Since Evans – then the team’s leading scorer – was lost for the season due to an academic issue the Dons have gone 5-3.

Calder has started every game in place of Evans and is averaging 13.1 points in over 33 minutes a game in his newfound role.

The senior from Fort Lauderdale will lead the Dons against Denver Saturday night at the Gates Center.
