FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Carroll’s Kelham Brown drilled a game-winning three with 4.5 seconds to beat North Side left while Wayne’s Breon Kinnie beat the buzzer – and the Homestead Spartans – with a game-winning put-back to highlight a dramatic night of prep basketball in Fort Wayne.
Carroll is now the only team undefeated in SAC play at 7-0. The Chargers were down 12 at the half and seven heading into the fourth, but rallied for the comeback win.
Brown led the Chargers with 16 points. Kyle Mallers and Jacob Redding each had 12 points. Jaylen Butz had 15 points and 13 rebounds to pace North Side, who falls to 4-3 in the SAC.
Meanwhile, Wayne trailed 58-52 but forced three turnovers in the final 45 seconds, including a critical one with seven seconds remaining. Wayne raced down the court and missed their first shot but Kinnie’s follow-up barely beat the buzzer, earning the Generals a 61-59 win and dropping Homestead to 6-1 in the SAC.
Craig Young and Kylon Jarreau each scored 16 for Wayne while Troyon Smith added 15.
