FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A church group in Fort Wayne has donated hundreds of flip flops to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission after finding out the organization is in need of shower shoes.

The Rescue Mission has a list of items its needs list. One of those is shower shoes, also known as shower clogs. Randy Hood, a lay pastor at the mission, said a lot of people don’t think about that. After hearing the Rescue Mission was desperate for them, members of The Pointe Church heard about the need and held a drive to collect the shoes. After emptying shelves in the city, a group in Florida on vacation decided to buy some there and ship them back to Fort Wayne.

“We realize at The Point that we can’t do it all, but we can do a little bit,” Hood said. “If all the churches come together and do a little bit, whatever they can do, then it makes a big difference… and that’s the best feeling in the whole world, to know that you’re helping somebody,”

In all, Hood said the group donated between 200 and 300 shower shoes.
