Three people hurt in house fire

It happened on the 4,500 block of S. Colonial Ave. around 3:45 Sunday morning. The three victims are in serious condition.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A house fire that injured three people is under control. It happened on the 4500 block of S. Colonial Ave. around 3:45 Sunday morning.

While crews were on their way to the home it was reported that one person might have been trapped inside the home.

The Fort Wayne Fire Deparment said that crews arrived on scene to find out that two adults and one child were able to get out of the home. All three were across the street inside a neighbor’s home. The home had heavy fire damage. Fire crews searched the structure and found no one else to be in the home.

The three victims are in fair condition. The names, genders or ages of the victims have not been released

It took crews 20 minutes to put the fire out. The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assessed by the Fort Wayne Police Department, AEP, NIPSCO and Neighborhood Code.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department said the fire started in the kitchen. The cause is still under investigation.
