FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fans of exotic cars can now check out a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari at Dream Makers Automotive in Fort Wayne. The extremely rare hypercar is believed to be the only LaFerrari on display in North America.
The LaFerrari – which literally means “The Ferrari” – is one of only 499 built by the Italian automaker. It’s 6.3L V12 hybrid engine produces 950 BHP, capable of a top speed in excess of 217 miles per hour and a 0-60 launch in just 2.5 seconds. It can reach 100 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds.
An “investment car,” Dream Makers Marketing Manager Jared Lencke said there are no LaFerraris for sale in North America – Dream Makers’ included. The show-stopping black beauty is part of the dealer’s “private collection,” Lencke said.
He could not even provide a cost for the hypercar.
“It’s hard to appraise a value of a car like this,” said Lencke. “What’s it worth to the right person?”
That’s not to say it won’t sell.
“Everything’s for sale at the right price. We’re always open to offers.”
Ferrari slated 120 LaFerraris for the United States. Lencke said it’s hard to know how many are in the country now, but he said the one at Dream Makers is the only one that someone with enough means can potentially buy.
Dream Makers, which bought the hypercar from a car collector in Florida, is known for its inventory of exotic and high-performance vehicles. In 2015, the dealership featured a $2.2 million McLaren P1 which garnered it coverage in the national press.
That sold. Lencke said he expects someone to pony up for the LaFerrari, as well.
“There are some celebrities who own these cars. A lot of the 499 made will never be seen, ever. Someone bought them, put them away, and you’ll never see it.”
Dream Makers only drove the car from its trailer into its showroom, Lencke said. It has been started only a handful of times, its F1-type roar only heard by a few.
The public is welcome to view the car, however. Dream Makers is open during regular business hours at 6393 Cross Creek Boulevard in Fort Wayne.
