FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW redshirt-senior men’s basketball guard Max Landis/Indianapolis (Perry Meridian) has been named The Summit League Player of the Week for his performance January 11-17. He led the Mastodons to a 106-101 overtime road victory at Omaha on Jan. 16 with his game and career-high 37 points making 9-12 three-point field goals, adding a career-high six rebounds along with four assists and three steals. Landis set a new school Division I single-game scoring record with his 37 points, and it equals the fifth-best single-game total all-time, while his nine three-point field goals (9-12) equal the program’s Division I record that he also accomplished earlier this season. He added 23 points, including 5-11 three-pointers, five rebounds and a game-high five assists at South Dakota State on Jan. 14. In two games last week, Landis averaged 30.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 61% (14-23) from three-point territory. This is his third career Summit League Player of the Week award, after winning the honor earlier this season on December 28 and last February 9, 2015.
Landis has started all 19 games he has played for IPFW (15-5, 4-1 Summit League) this season, averaging 36.2 minutes, 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He is shooting 47% (100-213) from the field, including 49% (69-140) on three-pointers and 79% (61-77) at the free throw line, while adding 20 steals and one block. Landis is the team leader in points (330), scoring average, three-pointers, three-point attempts, three-point percentage, free throws, free throw attempts and minutes (687). He has led the Mastodons in scoring nine times and posted a team-best 18 double-figure scoring games, including 16-straight with one 30-point game among five 20-point games (two-straight).
IPFW returns to Fort Wayne to host North Dakota State University in Summit League action at the Gates Sports Center on Thursday night, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.
