FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A man directing traffic near a new home construction site on Fort Wayne’s northeast side was injured when a pickup truck hit another truck that was unloading wood from a trailer Friday morning.
The incident took place before 8 a.m. near the entrance to the Oak Crossing subdivision on Tonkel Road just north of Dupont Road.
A NewsChannel videographer on the scene was told by authorities that the man directing traffic was standing in the road trying to stop motorists when the driver of the pickup, which was traveling south, apparently didn’t see him and hit the truck that was unloading the wood from a semi trailer parked on the side of the road.
It’s not known if the man was hit or if he suffered injuries his injuries getting out of the way. He was taken to a hospital with a head injury and appeared to be alert and talking.
The driver of the pickup was not injured, nor was anyone else.
The sun was just starting to come up when the accident took place, so it was still fairly dark out and the man directing traffic was not wearing any sort of reflective material.
