La Fontaine’s Emrick named National Sportcaster of the Year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – La Fontaine native and Manchester University graduate Mike “Doc” Emrick has been named the National Sportscaster of the Year for the third year in a row by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Emrick is the lead NHL play-by-play voice on NBC and has called hockey for over 40 years.

Emrick was mentored by Komets broadcaster Bob Chase in Fort Wayne.
