Homestead’s Sotir leaving after eight successful seasons

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – As WANE’s Rod Hissong confirmed with Homestead officials on Saturday head baseball coach Steve Sotir is leaving the program for a job at a baseball academy in Texas.

Sotir will run a four-field complex dedicated to baseball in El Paso, Texas.

He spent the last eight seasons as the head coach of the Spartans, amassing a 165-60 overall record.

In six of his eight seasons the Spartans won a sectional title.

That includes 2008 where Homestead advances to the 4A state title game, falling to Decatur Central 7-3 in the championship contest.
