Shooting at auto parts store ruled a suicide

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) The mystery surrounding some sort of incident at an AutoZone store in Huntington has been solved.

Dispatchers refused to explain why police and emergency personnel had showed up at the auto parts retailer located at 2600 N. Guilford St. Monday afternoon and police wouldn’t comment.

Messages on Facebook and emails to NewsChannel 15 indicated it was a shooting. and pictures of the scene showed

the store’s parking lot wrapped in yellow tape as investigators worked in and around the building. Police, including Huntington County Sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters could be seen in the parking lot.

A blue pickup truck sat with its doors opened.

A clerk who answered the phone at the store refused to comment.

Tuesday morning, the Huntington County coroner revealed that the shooting involved a man who had taken his own life.
