City: Water main is repaired, intersection now open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A water main break cause of a major Fort Wayne intersection to be closed Friday morning.

A FWPD officer discovered the break at the intersection of Anthonyand Rudisill boulevards around 2 a.m. and it would take until about 12:30 p.m. for crews to make the necessary repairs and reopen the roads.

All directions of traffic were blocked during that time.

Water could be seen traveling down both sides of several streets. Street department workers placed salt down in the area to prevent any icing due to cold temperatures.

City Utilities spokesman Frank Suarez anticipated workers needing most of the day to repair the broken 12-inch cast iron pipe.
