ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) County roads that had been closed due to high water were finally reopened, the Allen County Highway Department said Monday.
The following roads had been closed to traffic following a bout of heavy rains last week:
- South County Line Road between Winchester Road and U.S. 27
- Marion Center Road between Winchester Road and U.S. 27
- Parrot Road between Maplecrest Road and Hartzel Road
- Paulding Road between Moore Road and State Line Road
The highway department said Monday the roadways are now reopened.
The highway department warned motorists last week to use extreme caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways – even if there are no warning signs visible.
According to the National Weather Service, most flash flooding deaths are vehicle related. Six inches of standing water is enough to cause passenger cars to stall and a foot of water will float many vehicles, the department said.
