FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Going to see a movie is part of the Christmas festivities for so many families.
“It’s nice to have this to look forward to every year. We have our Christmas family program each Christmas Eve, so this is ideal,” Jim Graft said.
It’s a tradition Jim and his wife, Vicki, started once the kids grew up and moved out.
“Since our kids got married,” Vicki said. “They all go to their in-laws on Christmas Day so we go see a movie.”
Carmike Theaters said Christmas Day is one of the busiest days of the year. In a typical year several movies premiere on the holiday, attracting large crowds.
For the Gerkaes heading to the theater on Christmas is sort of a birthday/Christmas celebration they wouldn’t miss.
“Every year. His birthday is Christmas Eve and mine is Christmas Day, so every Christmas we go to the movies,” Mara Gerkae said.
For the Jordan brothers, who saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens, grabbing the popcorn and watching a movie might be a new tradition.
“This is actually our first time. I just thought it would be a nice Christmas present. It’s the first time they’ve seen the movie, it’s my second time,” Devon Jordan said. “I’m just glad that they enjoyed it and we definitely should do this again some time.”
The last viewing at Carmike Cinemas at Jefferson Pointe is at 11:30 Christmas night.
