INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent outside linebacker Andy Studebaker and waived guard Todd Herremans and inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera.
The team also placed running back Josh Robinson on the practice squad Injured Reserve list.
Studebaker, 6-3, 255 pounds, re-joins the Colts after spending time in training camp with the Tennessee Titans. He was signed by the Titans as a free agent on August 17, 2015 before being released during final cuts on September 4. Studebaker has played in 94 games (nine starts) and totaled 70 tackles (52 solo), 2.5 sacks, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, 68 special teams tackles and recovered a fumbled punt snap for a touchdown with the Colts (2013-14) and Kansas City Chiefs (2008-2012). He also has appeared in six postseason contests and tallied two tackles, six special teams tackles and one forced fumble on special teams. Studebaker was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round (203rd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent time on the Eagles practice squad as a rookie before being signed to the Chiefs 53-man roster on November 19, 2008 and spent five seasons in Kansas City. Studebaker saw action in 24 games (one start) in his previous two seasons with the Colts and recorded 19 tackles (12 solo), one pass defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 23 special teams tackles. He also played in five postseason games for Indianapolis and totaled two tackles, six special teams tackles and one special teams forced fumble.
Herremans, 6-6, 323 pounds, played in eight games (two starts) for the Colts this season after signing with the team as a free agent on March 8, 2015. He has played in 135 career NFL games (126 starts) and eight postseason contests (eight starts) with the Colts and Philadelphia Eagles (2005-2014).
Herrera, 6-1, 249 pounds, has spent most of the season (Weeks 1-5, 7-13) on the team’s practice squad. He has had two stints on the team’s 53-man roster, playing in Week 6 vs. New England and Week 14 at Jacksonville, and assisting on one special teams tackle. Herrera was most recently promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on December 8. He was originally selected by the Colts in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Georgia.
Robinson, 5-8, 221 pounds, was signed to the Colts practice squad on November 13 after being waived by the team November 11. He played in five games for Indianapolis this season and totaled 17 carries for 39 yards and six receptions for 33 yards. Robinson was selected by the Colts in the sixth round (205th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.
