Driver hurt, passenger pinned after crash into dumpster enclosure

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A passenger was trapped inside a car after the driver lost control and crashed into a dumpster enclosure Monday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., responders were called to the TownePlace Suites hotel off Wells Street at Ice Way, where a car had crashed into a dumpster enclosure there and flipped onto its side.

Firefighters called to the scene removed the car’s windshield and the passenger was able to get out of the car. He was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

The driver suffered a broken left arm and thumb.

The northbound lane of Wells Street near Louisedale Drive was closed after the crash.

An officer told NewsChannel 15 there were no witnesses. There was a police officer in a nearby parking lot and someone alerted him of the crash.
