Purdue University Guard Rapheal Davis was announced today as a nominee for the 2016 Allstate NABC Good Works Team® — one of the most prestigious off-the-court honors in college basketball.

For the fourth year, Allstate and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) are recognizing a select group of men’s college basketball student athletes for their remarkable community service achievements.

Davis has done an extraordinary job of demonstrating leadership both on and off the court and through his tireless dedication to giving back to others, which includes:

  • Raising almost $10,000 in a two-week span earlier this semester for the Cary Home for children, a youth facility that provides educational support, family services, and behavior modification for underprivileged youth
  • Reading to local youth at area schools during the school year
  • Donating part of his holiday per diem for a Christmas shopping spree for underprivileged families in the Lafayette area

From this year’s 154 nominees, a final roster of 10 award recipients – five players from the Division I level and five players from Divisions II, III and the NAIA – will be announced in February.
