FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Bishop Luers High School senior Austin Mack is one of 16 semifinalists for the annual U.S. Army Player of the Year award as announced on Tuesday.
The award is given to the country’s top high school senior football player at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Show on January 8, 2016 in San Antonio.
The six finalists for the award will be announced in early December.
Considered by many recruiting services as the top-ranked senior in Indiana, Mack had a fantastic all-around season for Bishop Luers.
He racked up 24 total touchdowns, scoring in a variety of ways.
He led Luers with 37 receptions for 765 yards and six touchdowns. He also carried 70 times for 690 yards and 13 scores. Mack added three touchdowns on kick returns, one on a punt return, and one interception return for a score.
He tallied four interceptions and 21 total tackles on defense.
