Radiothon collection celebrates 20 years

Stuff a busFORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Thousands of pounds of non-perishable food will be collected this year as part of WLDE’s ‘Stuff a Bus’ Radiothon. The donated items help the Associated Churches Food Bank and the Franciscan Center.

WLDE has collected food and other toiletry items for 20 years now, and since has collected 225,000 pounds of goods.

“For 20 years, Fun 101.7 listeners have stepped up to help those in need – that says a lot about the character of our residents” said Captain Chris. “The holidays are just around the corner and even just providing a few groceries can make a difference in someone’s holiday season. This year, we expect to surpass 225,000 pounds collected over the past twenty years.”

Non-perishable food items in high demand include: Peanut Butter, Mac and Cheese, canned items, granola bars and cereal. Toiletry items also needed include: laundry detergent, shampoo, household cleaners, over the counter cold medicines, body soap, toothpaste and first aid supplies.

Fun 101.7 WLDE will broadcast live from an Excursion Trailways bus at Georgetown Square from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Other bus donation locations include:

  • Connelly’s Do-It-Best on DuPont Road and Illinois Road
