ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police will now lead an investigation into the disappearance of more than $5,000 in cash from Anderson Police Department’s Drug Task Force office.
Assistant Chief Jerry Miller tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/1icqT0p ) that the Anderson Police Department requested Monday that Indiana State Police take over the investigation. He says the police department will still conduct its own probe into the missing funds and is receiving help from Indiana State Board of Accounts auditors.
Money was discovered missing by a Drug Task Force officer on Sept. 25 and two other officers also have since reported missing funds. It’s believed that anyone with access to that office had the opportunity to take the money.
Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings says the police department made the right move by requesting an Indiana State Police investigation.
