Woman found shot dead in car ID’d

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A woman found shot to death in a car on the city’s south side late Sunday has been identified.

JoeDasia Hunter, 20, of Fort Wayne died of gunshot wounds, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Her death was ruled the county’s 27th homicide of 2015.

Hunter’s body was found by police lifeless slumped in a car in the 300 block of East Esmond Street around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, after a neighbor called 911 after hearing gunfire in an alley in that block. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police Hunter had been talking to a man before the shooting. She was in the area picking up a family member who lived close by, police said.

Police do not have a suspect. The shooting does not, however, appear related to the string of shootings in the city over the last several days, police said.
