FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  It started as a company that sold woman and girls’ clothing at art fairs around the Midwest. Since its beginning in 2005, Matilda Jane Clothing has grown in popularity, allowing it to host its first outlet sale.

Matilda Jane is a direct sales company, meaning it has no store fronts. The women, girls and babies clothing is sold through Trunk Keepers.

The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum filled with people from Fort Wayne and other areas Friday through Sunday. Marketing Manager Kate Virage was happy to see a few thousand people come out for the sale.

“It’s really unique styling. It’s all about making women and girls feel happy, feel confident. It’s something you might not find in other places,” she said.

She explained that the company’s mission is to provide clothes that allow women and girls to be confident and happy. The clothing company was started in 2005 by Denise DeMarchis, Matilda Jane Clothing’s website said.

Virage was not sure if this would become an annual event, but she said never say never.
